Sue DeSilva previously taught Montessori curriculum in Killeen, Los Angeles and Houston. She has been teaching at Montessori schools since 1986 and holds a diploma from the Woodlands Training Center affiliated with the Montessori Training Center in London. Mrs. DeSilva ran her own Montessori home school, “Sue’s Montessori Home School,” from 1996 to 1999 in Round Rock before opening Round Rock Montessori School (RRMS) in April 1999. She has taught children for over 35 years and loves kids! She was formally a secondary education teacher before moving to Montessori. Ms. Sue is currently the director of the school and is responsible for one-on-one tutorial training specializing in reading and math.
Ms. Rajni Menhdiratta holds a Masters Degree in Botany and a Masters Degree in Education. She has taught grades K-11 for 11 years. She emphasizes on teaching children according to their individual needs. alt
Ms. Srini Y. Abeydeera has been teaching in Montessori school for over ten years. Before joining our team she taught in California, Kentucky and Wisconsin. She has over 13 years of experience working with children. Srini completed her Montessori teacher training certification at Contra Costa College in Berkeley, California and earned her child development associate certificate in 2004. She came to us from having lived in Japan for nearly 5 years and is able to speak Japanese fluently. We intend to introduce teaching conversational Japanese to our children in the coming year. Srini loves working with children and is delighted to be a part of the RRMS family.
Ms. Laurie Rakoff holds a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education with biology and chemistry as her teaching fields. She does science experiments with the children. She has taught high school and younger children for over 11 years and has been with the school for over 4 years. She is the mother of 3 children. Her youngest child attended the school for four years before starting kindergarten
Ms. Cindy Grover is a lead teacher in the “Seaside” primary classroom. She has a B. A. in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Psychology. Cindy has worked with children for 30 years which includes: Head Start, Special Ed., Montessori, and Early Childhood. Cindy has also worked as Assistant Director/Coordinator for 7 years. Cindy’s approach to teaching is to provide a fun, tangible environment that is familiar to everyday life, freedom with limits while inspiring children toward self-direction and the experience of reward of accomplishment
Ms. Julia Ryan was accepted into the first American Montessori society’s teacher training course. After being certified, she pioneered Montessori in the area of the Johnson space center south of Houston during the race to the moon. She had children of astronauts, astronaut’s doctors and astronaut’s dentists as well as other professionals from the area. She had that school for eleven years before moving to Austin area. Some of her former students from that school are doctors, lawyers and airline pilots. “Ms. Sue” was associated with Mrs. Ryan in a school in Killeen for several years.
Ms. Shelley Pero earned a Bachelors of Science from Oklahoma Christian University of Science & Arts. Throughout the years she has taught grades K-12, emphasizing in special needs. She believes in making an individual connection with each and every child and is very dedicated to her purpose.
Ms. Ashoka Mutluru holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. be bas been working with children for about 7 years and has been teaching toddlers for 4 years. She has earned her Montessori certification recently and has been teaching with RRMS since then. Her teaching approach in many ways adheres to Montessori teaching approach of self-directed learning and this can be achieved by controlling the environment (prepared environment) than controlling the child.
Ms. Elena Simmons has a B. A. in education. Elena has worked with children for 10 years and as a Director of language immerging early childhood program for two years. Elena's philosophy is to nurture each child's growth and education in a stimulating and caring learning environment. This environment gives children the opportunity to develop linguistic, social, physical and cognitive skills.
Ms. Mary Huckvale obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in English. She has taught the second grade for 4 years at a private school and has served as a substitute teacher for Austin, Hutto and Georgetown ISDs for over 2 years. She volunteers as a first grade religion teacher at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hutto. Additionally, she is retired from the state, having served as an executive assistant for 26 years.
Ms. Madhusmita Das holds a Master's degree in Economics with a minor in Psychology. Prior to relocating to St. Louis, Missouri in 2006, she worked in our school which her son also attended for 2 years. She loves work with children and uses her strengths in Mathematics to inculcate math skills in her students.
Ms. Nancy Gibby obtained her B. A. from Sul Ross University in Elementary Education. She is now retired after teaching 37 years in Special Education and K-3 grades in public schools, 27 of which were with the Round Rock ISD. She is registered and actively involved in the he Boy Scouts of America. Nancy has been an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honorary women teacher's society for 21 years. She writes the monthly newspaper for her local chapter, Kappa Lambda. Nancy is also a member and Sunday School teacher for the Hutto Methodist Church.
Ms. Leila Dakour is a teacher in the Green Meadows classroom. She comes to us with over 25 years experience teaching children, and has several years experience working with special needs children. She was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon where she received her education and has been in the States raising her own family nor for over 30 years. She is fluent in English, Arabic and French. She believes in being a positive influence and role model with all her students and always teaches them to aim for the stars.
Ms. Stephanie Davis is not only our administrative assistant, she also helps teach in various classrooms throughout the school, as needed. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, as well as, a Master's in Education, and is a certified Pre K-4th grade teacher. Once a military family, she joined us after settling in Round Rock and enrolling her youngest child at our school.
Ms. Megan Kundivich holds a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio State University. She has taught for two years in the public school working with children who have special needs. Megan has studied Montessori Method through the Ohio State Preschool Lab during her undergraduate years and was adamant about enrolling her daughter in Round Rock Montessori School. Megan believes that children teach us how to teach them just by listening to their delights, interests and what makes them laugh.
